It almost doesn’t make sense anymore to make a trip to the mall with all the savings you can be reaping online. That’s right – shopping online is a total moneymaker! How’s that for an oxymoron? But, in all seriousness, it’s so easy to save online and most websites even allow you to make returns at the store, so you don’t have to worry about fit or color.
Comparing prices has never been easier than it is now in the Internet age. Start by Googling the product you’re interested in buying (it helps if you have the style name/number) and click the Shopping tab in the top left corner of your screen. You can sort your results by price and even select retailers that offer free shipping. If it’s clothing or home goods that you’re buying, try searching the product name at Shopstyle.com.
Use Promotion Codes. Nearly every online retailer has a place for promotion codes during checkout. Be sure to check out Retailmenot.com, Couponcabin.com and Promocode-2010.com (although there are dozens of other discount sites) to find a coupon for your retailer. You’ll save at least 10 percent off almost every time. And you should rarely have to pay for shipping, either. Sites like FreeShipping.org help you find free shipping codes to apply to your order, too. Some sites even let you combine promotion codes for additional savings.
If you’re going to be spending money anyway, you might as well make some money while you’re at it. Whether it’s cash back, Sky Miles or reward points at your favorite store, you should never buy anything without being rewarded for it in some way.
You may also want to consider signing up for a rewards credit card or loyalty rewards card with your favorite retailer to receive tons of great perks. Sephora, Nordstrom and Gap all have great loyalty programs.
It can be incredibly time consuming (not to mention a pain in the you know what) to constantly check your favorite online retailers to see if that skirt you’ve been eyeing has gone on sale yet. And don’t get us started on digging through the sale bins at crowded department stores! With websites like Shoppingnotes.com, Priceneedle.com (for Amazon products only), and Shopittome.com, you can be notified the moment that TV goes on sale or even when your size has a drop in price. Ca-ching!
